After shooting stars and galaxies and planets over the years, i realized there was something I hadn’t really ever paid attention to – the brightest star in the sky! This little Lunt LS35T Solar Scope is allowing me to give it a shot. Visually it’s a completely different experience looking through the eyepieces compared to the night-time. Its a learning experience for sure.
Then I threw one of my ASI178MC’s onto it – as stock, there was no way I could get focus at all. Read a lot of different methods, and came to the solution of un-screwing the stock helical focuser and stacked a a few spacers together to get close. Focusing from there was a challenge, but was able to get close.

I need to figure out a better way of focusing, so found a lower profile helical focuser that I’m going to try and use to get better focus down the road. For now though, this is what got me close:

Here’s to learning more about our day-star 🙂
